Position Overview/Summary:

The Proposal Development Engineer provides leadership in the decision process for qualification of project leads from account managers based on feasibility and potential opportunity. The incumbent will work directly with customers to evaluate and generate project specifications and coordinate with internal project management, construction and engineering to generate and effectively communicate customer proposals. The PDE will also develop trusted advisor relationship with customer personnel. 
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):

Required:
* A minimum of a 4-year degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
* A minimum of 5 years engineering practice with power generation or cogeneration systems
* Diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in general areas of application of reciprocating engines.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business dictates up to 50% for the purpose of supporting customer interactions, special projects or conference / meeting attendance
* A valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance is required
* Must be insurable per Company Insurance Guidelines
* Proficient knowledge of MS Office
* Prompt and punctual with deadlines and work hours
* Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and outside parties
* Ability to work successfully in a team environment
* Spanish language skills will be advantageous
Position Responsibilities and Duties:

* Represent Dresser-Rand in a professional manner to industry, customers, vendors, etc.
* Keen awareness and appreciation for internal and external Customers
* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
* Perform project qualification based on engineering feasibility and potential leverage for future projects
* Support the Dresser-Rand engine distribution network in North America.
* Work with customer to gather/understand specifications and scope of solution
* Work directly with customer to evaluate and generate project specifications.
* Help to identify the evaluators, influencing persons and decision-makers that are key to the project
* Develop project definition, goals, schematics and scope of work for proposal generation
* Perform initial site visits as necessary to support proposal development
* Perform initial sizing and specification of project components
* Coordinate with project management, estimating, engineering, and construction to develop respective sections of project proposal
* Develop proposal margin based on costs, schedule constraints and other key factors
* Assist Account Managers and other personnel in presenting final proposals to customer
* Lead project transition to Operations upon award of project
* Participate in design reviews, and post job analysis for continuous improvement of proposals, solutions, and tools used in their creation
* Coordinate with Research and Development for identification and evaluation of potential new technologies and opportunities

Position Overview/Summary:

The Product Manager, LP Systems Technology will lead advanced technology development to improve the cost competitiveness and performance of D-R's next generation steam turbine products. Directly own and lead the overall product life cycle for next generation turbine products.  Interact with engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain management, and sales to drive product penetration and market expansion.
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):

Required:
* BS Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong steam turbine design knowledge.
* Project management &amp; strong leadership experience. 
* A minimum of 8 years experience in technical and/or application experience
* Product management &amp; development experience.
* A minimum of 10 years related experience in project management, logistics, marketing, sales or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

* 
MBA / MS or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
* 
Demonstrated steam turbine design knowledge.
* 
A minimum of 8 years of experience in technical project leadership.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:

* Provide oversight of platform &amp; technology development.
* Through understanding of the system and component level, including total installed cost and operating cost. Identify gaps between current and best-in-class designs.
* Work across the business to develop product requirements for successful integration of innovative steam turbine technologies. Ensure that optimized &amp; cost effective engineering solutions are developed to meet product requirements.
* Develop a clear understanding of Customer and market requirements. Ensure that Critical-to-Quality metrics are unambiguously communicated to the engineering team.
* Incorporate lessons learned into future designs and processes
* Drive product standardization in conceptual designs.
* Lead and direct engineering and business analysis of competing concepts.
* Outstanding communication skills. Must be able to present effectively to executive leadership. Present critical business issues to leadership and develop recommended actions in a clear and succinct manner.
* Ability to lead in a matrix organization. Need to be able to lead and influence without authority. Demonstrate leadership across organizational boundaries.
* Passion for learning.  Capability to quickly learn and turn learning into actionable strategy.
* Responsible for identification of innovative technologies, product competitiveness / differentiation and their adequate translation into commercial benefits
* Collaborate with worldwide sales, marketing and communications team to support the introduction of new products.
