Position Overview/Summary:
The Project Controls Specialist will lead and coordinate all aspects of Project Controls and ensure a consistent professional project controls setup on medium to large and complex projects/programs in accordance with industry best practice and Global Singular Process business requirements.
Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
Required:
* US Citizenship
* Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering or construction.
* A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate industry experience
* Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
* Possession of a current US passport is mandatory.
* Ability to travel by plane is mandatory.
* Ability to travel extensively domestically as well as some international.
* Commercial experience with sales proposals, estimates and contract terms and conditions.
* Experience dealing directly with EPC’s and clients in the Oil, Gas and Refining business.
* Experience working in heavy manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of industry standards, such as API, ASME, etc.
* Understanding of technology associated with centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas and steam turbines.
* Comprehensive knowledge of project controls concepts, practices and procedures, and schedule management tools such as Primavera and MS Project
* Understanding the basics of the Business Systems such as Oracle and how it is used in the order capture, order entry, and order execution processes.
* Strong Communication Skills are essential; verbal and written
* Ability to process complex and linear thinking
* Ability to effectively lead and work under pressure
* Ability to work constructively with all stakeholders, building both internal and external relationships
* Ability to negotiate with senior Dresser-Rand and client representatives
* Ability to build an effective team
* Systems/tools skills:Primavera, MS Project MS Office Suite
* Negotiation skill and commercial experience to manage contract scope changes directly with EPC’s or end user clients Influencing skill to deal effectively with Dresser-Rand matrix reporting structure.
* Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to prioritize (80/20) activities for biggest impact, given multi-tasking ETO environment
* Strong bias for following processes and continual process improvement (Six Sigma and/or lean knowledge)
* Strong sense of time urgency for critical-path project items, milestones, and key project deliverables
* Ability to train and develop personnel
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
* Initial focus should be on medium to large and complex projects/programs
* Ensure project controls setup for cost, schedule, progress reporting is in alignment with industry best practice and GSP business requirements.
* WBS must align across project controls setup from estimate to cost tracking, schedule, progress reporting and forecasting across the project life cycle.
* Represent project controls discipline within GSP initiative
* Coach, develop and assist the project managers and administrators in the area of project controls to ensure they follow best practice to achieve best results
* Develop and train a capable project controls team across the business in the areas of schedule, cost engineering, progress reporting and forecasting
* Develop D-R project control standards and tools in accordance with industry best practice. Support project managers with client-specific requirements with regard to project controls setup
* Represent Dresser-Rand as the Global Project Controls subject matter expert (SME)
* Cost and Schedule forecasting, including multiple-site roll-up for program visibility
* Implement Project Controls setup on medium to large complex projects/programs
* Critical path scheduling Progress reporting Assess project opportunities and support change management and commercial optimization
* Assess project risks and support mitigation activities.
